Our communities have a wealth of skills, experience and knowledge that walk in and out our library doors every day - the Creative Communities initiative gives members of our community the opportunity to collaborate with their library to run activities that share their skills in a group environment, providing learning opportunities that promote skill development and wellbeing in the community.

Our libraries have regular groups meeting to share their skills in crochet, gardening, knitting, creative writing and more - if you would like to form a group or have a skill and an idea to share it with the wider community, talk to our friendly staff members today.

Craft

The Craft Catch-Up group meets 2pm-4pm every fortnight at Tamworth Library, whether you crochet, spin, knit, felt, embroider or any other craft.

You can download their Tamworth Tote pattern and use the Tote Workshop and Basic Crochet Skills videos to get you started - or create your own T-Shirt Yarn and use it to crochet a Yarn Bowl!

This friendly group will be happy to help you along.

Growers and Gardeners

Growers around the region occasionally meet for a Wholefood Produce Swap to share excess fresh homegrown produce, jams, pickles or eggs and swap them with someone else's delicious food.

We also have Veggie Patch Science video workshops, to get you gardening, making and learning throughout the year!

Knitting

@Tamworth the Knitting Group meets Friday mornings.
@Narrabri the Knitter Natter Club meets Monday at 2pm.
@Uralla the Knattering Knitters meet Tuesdays at 10am and Sundays from 2pm.

These friendly local groups help each other learn, design and produce a variety of creations - all experience levels welcome.

Book Groups

We have many book groups meeting regularly around the region to discuss books from our growing collection of reading group kits.

Groups meet at different times and days, and are very popular - see our full list of Book Groups or contact your library branch to start a new one!

Writing

The Tamworth Library Writers Group meets the 2nd Saturday of the month at South Tamworth Library from 1pm - 3:30pm.

All levels of ability are welcome, as are illustrators, book designers and anyone with an interest in writing.
