About Central Northern Regional Library (CNRL)
Based in Tamworth (NSW, Australia), Central Northern Regional Library serves the local government areas of Tamworth Regional Council, Narrabri Shire Council, Gwydir Shire Council, Liverpool Plains Shire Council, Uralla Shire Council and Walcha Shire. There are 15 library branches in all.
CNRL provides an extensive collection of print, audio visual and electronic resources as well as access to a range of downloadable content including eaudiobooks, ebooks and emagazines. Film, Documentary and TV streaming services are also available to members. Other collections include Cake Tins, Seeds, Autism Spectrum Disorder resources.
Online databases available to members include Ancestry.com, Encyclopaedia Britannica Online, National Geographic, Gale as well as other sources of information for research, study and recreation.
Public use computers with free internet access are available at all branches. Free wifi is also available. Scanning, printing and photocopying facilities are available at most branches.
Membership
Membership of CNRL is free to all residents of Tamworth Regional Council, Narrabri Shire Council, Gwydir Shire Council, Liverpool Plains Shire Council, Uralla Shire Council and Walcha Council. After filling in the online membership form, proof of residence will be required. There is no minimum age for joining, however those under 18 years will require the permission of a parent or guardian.
Young Members
Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that their child's selection and use of materials from the library's collections accords with any restrictions the family may wish to set. Our collections and online services contain some items that have been classified 'M', 'MA 15+' and 'R 18+'. Parents/guardians are responsible for their child's use of the internet while in the library.
Visitor membership
Non-residents who are living for an extended period within the CNRL region and who present proof of their home address and temporary address, are able to join as a 'visitor'. Two items only may be borrowed at any one time. Visitors will require a temporary computer card to access library computers. Visitors do not have access to econtent.
Reciprocal membership
Short term visitors may also apply for 'visitor' membership after presenting a library card from their local library service and proof of their home address. 'Visitor' conditions apply to reciprocal members.
Loans
Up to 20 items may be on loan at any one time for a period of three weeks.
Renewals
Items may be renewed up to 5 times for 2 weeks each renewal provided they are not reserved.
Items can be renewed in person, by phone or online via the library website or app.
Reservations
Reservations may be placed for onloan items and items not held at your home branch. You will be notified by your nominated method (SMS, email or post) when the item is available for collection.
Items will be held awaiting collection for 14 days before they are placed back in circulation.
Reservations can be placed either online via the website or app or by contacting library staff.
Interlibrary Loans
Items not held by CNRL may be able to be obtained from another library service on interlibrary loan.
A charge may apply however you will be asked if you are prepared to pay when placing the request. Use the interlibrary loan form to submit a request.
